I have selected my favourite images for Friday – these lving rooms belong to: Brooke Shields / Jessica Alba / Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi / Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady / Gwyneth Paltrow / Whitney Port. Pop of Colour

I love the wood paneling in our character home. It has been painted white which gives our living room a fresh, Scandinavian feel that I have accented with pops of colour.

I really don’t want to hammer nails into the paneling to put up art work but as you enter the room there is one long wall that needed ‘something’ to lift the space.

We had our fabulous furniture maker friend Thomo whip up an ottoman for us that we upholstered in a fun, bright, floral fabric. I sourced the fabric from McKenzie & Willis as I love their wide range of quality, funky fabrics. Hmmmm decisions, decision!

The fabric is reasonably tough and with such a variety of colours (shades of pink, blue, tan, cream and white) it will hopefully hide any small marks that can’t be wiped away!

It not only adds a pop of colour, but it also provides additional seating that can easily be moved (or removed!) around the house.

Storage Solutions

I’m on the hunt for a storage solution for our living room. Due to a real lack of follow through with rules for our loveable (but naughty) 1 year old German Shorthaired Pointer, Frankie, I need to put the couch cushions away! The Marimekko cushion covers don’t look so great covered in dog hair, so to stop me from going crazy I thought a simple solution would be buy a basket to pop the cushions in at night (yes, she sleeps on the couch, terrible I know!!).

There are plenty of beautiful storage baskets around at the moment so the hardest thing will be deciding which one!

What storage solution is your favourite?

Happy weekend everyone x

Not to be overlooked

People spend so much time in the living room relaxing, entertaining, watching TV etc and this makes a coffee table a piece of furniture that is not only practical, but also a central item to the rooms decor.

With this in mind it is a piece that should be selected carefully with the overall feel of the room taken into consideration. I love mixing textures and colours and am not into matching furniture in the living room (or anywhere for that matter!).

Here are some of my current coffee table faves available at the moment:

Then there is the opportunity for styling that a coffee table provides. Ours is currently the beholder of some gorgeous coffee table books and beautiful candles, and I’m always on the lookout for further trinkets to add to the ever growing vignette.

Check out these stylish ideas for adding the finishing touches to the top of your coffee table.
