Postcards From Perth

Here is a photo journal of some of the highlights of our amazing week in Perth. We had such an incredible time with our beautiful friends Leila and Scott who showed us some of the best that West Australia has to offer.

Flights that is. Tomorrow. Christchurch to Melbourne to Perth! Super excited to see our gorgeous London friends Leila and Scott who returned to their home city, Perth, around the same time that we returned to Christchurch. They joys of London living means so many of the fabulous friends you make don’t actually live a tube ride away forever!

I’m looking forward to girly catch ups, warm weather, blue skies, sparkling water, white sand, wine country, family time, shopping… the list goes on.

I’m going to take the week and a bit off the blog but will have HEAPS of amazing material and photos to share when we get back. I have finally set up a Mrs Adorable Instagram account (mrsadorableblog) where I’ll be posting photos of our trip along the way.

Axel has learnt a new noise recently, a high pitched squeal that he enjoys practising regularly, he especially likes to rev it up when we are out in public – restaurants and shops in particular. I can’t wait for the 9 hours of travel that we have to look forward to with that to try to minimise. Happy days!!!

Have a fabulous weekend and week ahead. If you aren’t signed up for email notifications please do, or check back in from Wednesday the 22nd of October when I’m back!

Tomorrow morning the Doornenbal household will rise well before dawn, throw copious amounts of luggage into the boot of the Jeep and head to the airport with a 5 month old baby. We will be the ‘that’ family. Memories of muttering under my breath ‘I hope we are not on the same flight as that baby’ are ringing in my ears and I shudder to think about the potential karmic horrors that may await us.

However, Axel is so laid back I have high hopes for a stress-free flight! Friends have completed tear-free flights to Europe and America recently with their little ones so I’m sure we too can achieve this on a meagre 4 hour fight to Australia; BUT if he screams the house down on take off and landing it’s good for his ears right? And we (hopefully) will never see the people seated around us ever again!

I endeavour to still post regularly while relaxing at my in-laws winter getaway in Noosa. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of time with keen babysitters at the ready! Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Xx

PS: I apologise in advance to anyone traveling to Brisbane from Christchurch early tomorrow morning, especially if things end up getting a little loud…. but surely everyone will forgive this face?!

Champagne on Ice

We are heading to Noosa this weekend to visit Eli’s parents so I am mentally compiling my Duty Free shopping list. My beautiful cousin Jen who manages JR Duty Free in Auckland, gave me the heads up on Moet & Chandon’s “Ice Imperial” Champagne, the world’s first champagne to be enjoyed over ice. Drinking champagne in the sun is definitely one of my favourite things to do and over ice sounds extra special. Loving the gorgeous bottle it comes in too.

Road Trip

We hit the road on Saturday and headed to the rugged West Coast to attend my sisters engagement party. Here is a photo journal of our journey from one side of the beautiful South Island to the other. We traveled through the Southern Alps via Arthurs Pass and made a quick stop at Punakaiki to view the stunning pancake rocks and blow holes.

One&Only Hayman Island

Hayman Island in Australia is definitely on my travel hit list and the stunning Great Barrier reef location deserves only the best in terms of accommodation. The exclusive One&Only Hayman has certainly delivered after an $80 million dollar investment; the beauty of the photographs alone make me want to pack my bags!
