Sunday was cold and involved running around getting lots of little jobs done. I wore some of my old pieces that I love and mix and match all the time – real wardrobe staples.
Hope everyone had a great Valentines weekend!

Yesterday was a public holiday (Labour Day) here in NZ and unfortunately the weather in Christchurch was a little miserable. It did clear up enough in the afternoon for us to get out in the garden, and the mornings wet weather encouraged a brunch date at our local cafe Fava.
I am in LOVE with my new Adriano Goldschmied jeans that I picked up while in Perth – they honestly feel like I am wearing leggings, in fact they are so comfortable that I wore them on the back to back flights home. Along with the amazing fit they are a fantastic colour and have just the right amount of distressing. Expect to see these a lot!

With crazy, unseasonably warm weather on Saturday I was able to wear a floaty shirt normally reserved for summer and pretend that snow wasn’t forecast for Sunday.

With Spring weather upon us layers are ideal to add a bit of extra warmth if necessary. Try tying a check shirt around you waist to add a pop of colour to a classic weekend look of jeans and white tee.

With Spring just around the corner I can’t wait to be able to wear jeans and a pair of flats… Ballet flats, loafer flats, pointy flats, patterned, printed or plain, all look fantastic with a pair of jeans and a simple shirt, tank or tee.
Here are my favourite picks of the moment…

2. House of Harlow 1960 Marion Beaded Flat Moccasins – Shopbop
3. Dune Longer Chain Slipper Shoes – Asos

5. Jeffrey Campbell ‘In Love’ Flat – Nordstrom
Recently a friend asked me for some advice on what shoes to wear with jeans, other than long boots, this winter. I am definitely an ankle boot over jeans girl on the weekend but I also love my Converse. Nothing beats a pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers for style and comfort and they look particularly good with denim; mine receive a regular work out when running errands on the weekend.
I think everyone should have a pair of canvass sneakers to kick around in. I tend to choose a light colour so that they go with pretty much anything (my current pair are plain white).
Here are a few options for casual sneakers that would look great teamed with jeans for a stylish but comfortable weekend look.
