Legends

I love Chrissy Teigen and John Legend! I follow Chrissy on Instagram and she posts honest and often hilarious insights into their blessed life. I definitely recommend following her if you aren’t already. Here is a sneak peak into their New York apartment. It was designed by Don Stewart to be a private retreat and the couple love the dark, moody atmosphere of the interior of their one-bedroom loft style residence. item1.rendition.slideshowVertical.john-legend-chrissy-teigen-don-stewart-designed-manhattan-apartment-02-wm How cool is that steel wall in the dining area? A perfect backdrop to make the mixed media art work by Mike Weber pop. item2.rendition.slideshowHorizontal.john-legend-chrissy-teigen-don-stewart-designed-manhattan-apartment-03-wm I love the combination of the dusky blues and the metallic furniture pieces. Really contributes to a sense of cosy comfort. item3.rendition.slideshowHorizontal.john-legend-chrissy-teigen-don-stewart-designed-manhattan-apartment-04-wm The design of the house is a great lesson in how using a cohesive styling and colour palette throughout your home pulls everything together in unison. The kitchen continues the same blue tones and metallic features and what about that custom made splash back  – devine! item4.rendition.slideshowHorizontal.john-legend-chrissy-teigen-don-stewart-designed-manhattan-apartment-05-wm Of course the home wouldn’t be complete without an area for music. I’m loving the contrast between the hard materials like the brick wall and the reclaimed wood wall, with the bright modern splash of colour from the Lynne Mapp Drexler painting.

NYC

New York City has to be one of my favourite cities around the world. A friend of mine is off to the concrete jungle these holidays and has asked for a few of my top tips… here we go Erin!

1. I highly recommend taking the hop on hop off bus tour. It’s a great way to familiarise yourself with the different areas, major sights and learn a few interesting facts along the way. You’ll be able to hit all the major tourist destinations by using the bus and I really enjoyed the New Yorker attitude and sense of humour from the guides!

It’s definitely worthwhile heading up to Harlem and across to Brooklyn on the bus, as well as taking in the sights at night. It was summer when we were there so we sat up top, however you’ll need to rug up warm Erin!

2. We decided to go up the Rockerfeller Centre to the Top of The Rock observation deck as that gave us a great view of the Empire State Building for photos. We went for the sun and stars ticket option so we were able to go twice in one day and head back at sunset to watch the lights across the city come on. It was amazing!

3. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge so you can take a number of iconic photos and get a great view of the city.

4. Visit the Meatpacking District which is full of amazing restaurants and high end designer clothing stores, as well as the super cool High Line, a 30ft high abandoned stretch of elevated railway tracks that have been transformed in parkland.

5. Obviously a visit to New York wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Times Square. Standing amongst the crowds, looking up at the dazzling advertising billboards, as yellow cubs buzz around the square is a quintessential New York moment. While there take a trip to  M & M’s world for some tasty treats!

6. Make sure you go to Century 21 the best ever discount department store. Here I had a Cinderella moment when I discovered a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels for $150 actually fit! Major endorphin rush!!!

7. Go for brunch! We had the most amazing brunch in the West Village before walking to the High Line. It was delicious, service was amazing and worth every penny of the tip! Have a read over this Time Out article for brunch recommendations.

8. Walk everywhere. We stumbled across so many amazing things walking the streets; New York is a city of districts each with their own style, culture, and tale to tell.

Any New York tips for Erin please comment!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and have the most amazing holiday Erin x

Start ’em Young

Four-year-old Aila Wang is already a style icon. She knows how to rock a Balenciaga bag, Nike sandals and socks, and she certainly stole the limelight at her Uncle’s (Alexander Wang) New York Fashion Week show. Aila’s outfit was a testament to her Uncle’s Spring 2014 looks –  she even wore a mini version of the ‘Parental Advisory’ slogan tee.

The stylish toddler has donned custom Wang creations in the past and he hopes his gorgeous niece will one day take over the family business. Any four year old that already has a signature look is definitely on the right path!

NYFW Favourites

New York is one of my favourite cities in the world so if I could choose to sit front row at any fashion week, NYFW would be my number one pick!

The designers have not disappointed with their shows for Spring 2014 collections and the trends that are popping up are exciting! White on white, bold red, trench coats, pretty sparkles and 90’s influences abound. All very covetable and amazingly wearable!

Here are some of my favourite looks from the runways of NYFW so far…

Jason Wu –

I am soooooo in love with this ready to wear collection! Beautiful fabrics with gorgeous sparkles, comfortable shorts and sweaters and a nod to the 90’s. How amazing is the gown?!!!! Be ready to spot a Jason Wu gown or two on the red carpet come next award season.

Rag and Bone –

Brought their tomboy style to the runway again this year, however juxtaposed their menswear influenced tailoring with flirty, floaty slipdresses. Rag and Bone also demonstrated a penchant for the 90’s with their crop tops and bias-cut dresses.

Monique Lhuillier –

The queen of dream gowns didn’t disappoint with a gorgeous collection of stunning red carpet worthy outfits that had an almost oriental influence. Sparkles, silk linen, hot pink and rich reds certainly impressed.

I can’t wait to see what this week’s shows bring!

S.A.T.C

I miss this show so much! Nothing has yet replaced what was the best form of escapism on t.v once a week… A whole heap of fabulousness all rolled into one hour;  the fashion and of course the shoes, but it was the writing that always impressed me the most.

And now there is a website dedicated to reliving all of those amazing SATC moments. Head on over to thingsilearnedfromsatc to remember the highs and lows that we lived vicariously through Carrie and the girls.

And just because ever girl should own a pair of Manolo’s (buying mine in NYC resulted in a mega endorphin rush!) here are my current favourites…
