Foodie Treats

Another two restaurants that I visited for the first time while in Auckland have definitely impressed.

The first is Cafe Hanoi, a Vietnamese restaurant located behind an unassuming red door in Britomart. Cafe Hanoi boasts accolades of Best New Venue and Maitre ‘d of the Year (2011 Lewisham Awards) and Top 50 Restaurant (2012 Metro) (2012 Cuisine). I enjoyed the unassuming decor which allowed the food to shine, the service was knowledgable and the little touches like interesting wine glasses showed great attention to detail.

The second hot spot was introduced to me by my fabulous cousin, Jen who I had the pleasure of staying with over the weekend. York Street Mechanics in Newmarket is such a fabulous idea! A restaurant and a motorcycle mechanic workshop combined provides an interesting theme that doesn’t smell like an oily rag, but is instead every bit biker cool.

Directly opposite York Street Mechanics is Dry and Tea, a blow wave bar and tea house where you can have your hair totally glammed while enjoying a cup of fragrant tea, a hot chocolate or, coming soon, a cocktail! Check out their menu to see the extensive services and tea selection offered. Dry and Tea should be the first stop for any girls pamper weekend in Auckland!
