Hubby had a shoulder operation on Monday so we are now BOTH at home recovering from right arm injuries. Our fur baby was also spayed on Monday which has made for a brilliant family photo!

Due to being stuck at home we have been catching up on the Game of Thrones phenomenon. I am thankful for being able to watch back to back episodes due to the huge cast and intertwined story lines!

It got me to thinking about castles and specifically staying in castle (who wouldn’t want to have a Princess moment!) so after some web searching here are a few goodies I found starting off with one in our own backyard…

Larnach Castle, Dunedin, New Zealand

You can’t stay in the castle itself as it is a private residence but accommodation is provided in the historic stables, Larnach Lodge or Camp Estate, all located on the Castle grounds. Accommodation guests are able to dine in the Castle and for theΒ month of May only, Larnach Castle will be offering the opportunity to dine in a Castle dining room to the public and holiday makers in Dunedin.

Queen Victoria is quoted to have said after a stay at this castle ‘I never saw a lovelier or more romantic spot’.
